LORETTA, DAN & FAMILY

Loretta is remodeling their bathroom again. When she went to put in a vent she found out that the previous owners had only vented it only to the attic, so she had to vent it to the outside. She is working only 12 hours a week at Wards right now. Business is slow and they have cut everyone’s hours.

Bonnie is in her final year of college and she will get her teaching certificate this year. She is currently working as a Teacher’s Assistant for Sixth Graders and will be doing a lot of that in her last year of earning her certificate. She is really enjoying it.

It has been 2 years since Loretta and Dan quit smoking! Danny’s cholesterol and blood pressure got much better and he is really doing great.

BETSY & MILAS & FAMILY:

Babette is working hard as usual. She says the mud slides haven’t closed any important roads yet. However, their fence blew over twice in the strong winds. They put it back up after the first bad storm only to have it knocked down again with the last storm. Milo moved his boat from the north dock to the south docks just before the north dock and the gas dock sank. Good timing.

Babette is involved in a new program at work. They were the first contractor to be invited to be in on a regionalization team. They are working to standardize the operating procedures for all the different bases.

Michelle’s husband, Tony, has been at sea a lot and Michelle really misses him. She cut her hair just above the shoulders in a page boy cut and Tony loves it.

Amy is 21. On her birthday, she stayed home for cake and movies......until 9:00 p.m. when she went out with friends. She won’t tell what she did.

Miranda turned 5 on January 21st and they celebrated her birthday on Hurricane Ridge.

It would have been great except that Miranda ended up with a cough and high fever while they were there and it turned out to be pneumonia. Poor girl didn’t want to eat her cake or open up presents either. She got treatment and recovered quickly. She is still in ballet and loves it. She will be performing Aladdin for her recital in June. She will start Kindergarten in the fall.

Taryn’s 4th birthday is on March 3rd. She wants to have her birthday at her gymnastic place...her new love!

She is such a little monkey, climbing and jumping on everything. Gymnastics is the perfect focus for her energy.

JENNY & SKY:

Jen has been waiting for her transcripts from the community college of the Air Force, so that she can apply for a place in the LVN course that starts in May. She is also applying a place in the Air Force as a Physician’s Assistant, which is her first choice. If she is accepted by the Air Force, she will become an officer. July 17 will be her 3 year mark and she will also be able to re-enlist for another 4 to 6 years. July 4 is Sky and Jenny’s 3 year anniversary happily married! She says nothing else is exciting. They haven’t started planning a family yet, but she is hoping things will work out and they can start. They may be moving on base in June or July and hopefully coming to visit in July.

Doctors have also found masses on her breasts. She is waitressing for a while. Derek is doing well in school. Marissa is a little doll. Although she is the same age as Miranda she is much smaller than most 3 year olds and so she surprises people when she is so articulate. She will also start kindergarten this year.

VALERIE & JIM & FAMILY:

Valerie loves her job at the school and the teacher she works with. The teacher depends on her a lot and she does a lot of extra work

She is taking computer classes in Word, Excel and Access.

Her church hosted a regional missionary conference and she was one of the greeters. She says it was nice seeing a lot of old friends that she hasn’t seen for years. They served a delicious luncheon with Chinese Chicken salad and ambrosia, among other things. Brittany was one of the little waitresses.

Jim is working a lot. On his days off he enjoys going mountain biking.

Brandon has a broken jaw and now has a plate and pins in his jaw. One of the other high school kids beat him up. He didn’t fight back because he didn’t want to get into trouble in school. He is on the wrestling team and has to maintain a good grade average and keep a clean record. He was looking forward to wrestling this year. Now, however, with the plate, he cannot wrestle at least for another year. For quite a while he could only eat soft or liquid food. His grades are really good this year, with three As and several Bs.

Brittany is doing well and growing fast. She went snowboarding and loves to mountain bike with her dad. She and Valerie went to the Burke museum and really enjoyed it.

STEFANIE, JIM & FAMILY:

Stefanie, Jim and family moved into their new home last August. It is located between Lake Stevens and Machias near the Centennial Trail. The scenery is lovely, with evergreens and ponds. Jim and his dad are contractors, so Jim and Stef will build a home, live in it for a while, then sell and build a bigger place. Stef says that she hopes they will not have to move again, because they really love this place. It has 2 fireplaces, a big kitchen and they kids have their own rec. room. She really got in the Christmas spirit and decorated the entire house, complete with two trees for their family Christmas party. It snowed the day of the party, which made a beautiful setting for their home, but kept many of the family members away.

She cried when she got her gift from her mother in law....a Kitchen Aid. She has always wanted one because, as she says, Aunt Belva had one, and good things always seemed to come out of her kitchen. She even talked Valerie into making orange rolls for dinner.
