BENITA & JON & FAMILY:

Benita has good news. The doctors found out that Jon’s kidney is normal. The doctors were concerned that he might have end stage renal failure. She has cut back on some of her activities because she is under such stress and has so much to do with school, Jon’s health and 4 active children.

David and Amanda & Jonathan & Lindsay

Everyone has been ill in her family. Tommes had such a severe case of stomach flu that they suspected e-coli. He ran a high fever and was dehydrated. They thought Sara had the flu, but it turned out to be carbon monoxide poisoning. David had the flu, but decided he was well enough to go the Winter Ball.

Tommes says his favorite subject is lunch. Sara, who is in pre-school, got a jump on St. Patrick’s Day. She dyed her hair green with green markers. She calls it her ‘happy hair’. Fortunately the markers were washable, so the color is coming out.

Jon has been part of a community outreach group called Faith in Action and cares for people in need, such as a lady with cancer.

BIANCA & KEVIN & FAMILY:

Bianca is homemaking leader in her ward, and held a very well attended class on emergency preparedness. Carly got a part in a play at school, called "Wiz of the West," that was performed at the State Capitol.. They sang "Washington, My Home","Columbia" and some fun songs. Carly has a horse, and she and her dad are involved in 4-H. Bianca says that the recent heavy rains and bad weather have spooked the horses.

Dustin was chosen for the All Star team. His team won in the playoffs after two double overtimes and a sudden death playoff round although they were trailing the whole game. Bianca continues to be very busy with meetings, missionaries coming for dinner, ball games, 4-H and etc. They have had some fun experiences, such as going riding out on a hay truck with some volunteers to feed a herd of elk as well as a herd of mountain sheep.

BRET & VICKIE & FAMILY:

Bret still works on computers for many friends and relatives and one person gave him a gift certificate to the Olive Garden, so he and Vickie enjoyed lunch there.

Bret and Vickie’s front yard looks very different now. When the city widened the street they took down the fence and put a layer of new top soil in their yard and spread gravel on the driveway leading to the old garage.

Tylor received his "Faith in God" award.

Bob had skeletal x-rays to see what progress he is making. The x-rays showed some lesions and doctors felt it was necessary to radiate them. They are concerned about how much damage the radiation is doing to his bone marrow. Belva says it would be depressing if it were not for the fact that he is doing so well with his healing. He is even back to driving himself to some places.

One of the changes we notice in Bob is his smile. He has always had a smile on his face. His kids used to joke that he even smiled when he had to discipline them. But his smile now is radiant and seems to emanate from every part of his being.

Belva began having back pain for several months and went to see her doctor who took x-rays and told her that she had a bulging disk and the beginnings of osteoporosis. She will try increased calcium and moderate exercise to help strengthen her bones.

The Perrys have had lots of visitors in January. First Bill and Zina came and then John MayBee.

Belva and Bob have always been fortunate that when they have company, Vickie is always ready to pitch in with food.

BILL & ZINA & FAMILY:

I will have to agree with Bill and Zina that they have very cute grandchildren, and brought pictures to prove it.

(It is amazing how much Alex looks like Michelle Cook did at that age. She even has the same mannerisms.)

They have a multi-cultural family and make sure that every grandchild’s traditions are encouraged. Zina learned about Kwanzaa to tell Jacquelyn. Gabe’s family is Navaho and Alex (who will be flower girl) will wear a beautiful fringed and beaded dress for the wedding ceremony of one of his family. One of the parts of the wedding tradition is to show that the families of the bride and groom can support them in style and everyone tries to outdo the last family. At the last wedding the couple got several pickup loads of gifts, so this couple is trying to make sure that they have even more.

The Maybee family’s year began with a lot of sickness. Margi had pneumonia. Bill had the hard flu and such high temperatures that he had a heat rash from the temperature. Little Cali was in the emergency room of the hospital twice in two days. One night she was suffering dehydration and the next day the doctors diagnosed her as having pre-encephalitis. Nicholas was suffering stomach pains in school and after a trip to the emergency it was found that he had an impacted colon.

Bill and Zina rushed to Butte to be there with Joe for his surgery and then went on to Everett to see Belva, Bob and Barbara. They spent a lot of time working on genealogy and scanning pictures.

They had planned to drive down the coast and see John and Kathy and some of Zina’s family, but decided to go back to Butte.

When they went back to Butte, they were surprised to see Matt out in the dark chopping wood. When they asked why, he said that Joe’s furnace was not working. Duane and Bill planned to repair it, but it was beyond repair. They chopped a good supply of wood and got some comedy movies for Joe to watch.

Great news for Rich and Lori. They are expecting in August. One more grandchild for Zina to spoil.

JOHN & KATHY MAY BEE FAMILY:

Just after John published the book on grandma Bessie’s family, The Backhouse Yorks of Montana, he was contacted by a cousin, Velva Ward and told of much more information including many pictures, so the second edition is being written. It is to be hoped that, it will be ready in time for this summer’s reunion. He is now doing research on the Maybee line and has good evidence that David senior was the son of Joseph and Catherina Schuyler Maybee. Joseph was the son of Jan Pieter and Dorthea Pikard Maybee, but there the trail ends...for now.
